Cotton handloom sarees are delicate and require gentle care to maintain their texture, color, and longevity. Here are some tips to take care of cotton handloom sarees:

  1. Hand wash: Always hand wash cotton handloom sarees in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not use hot water or bleach as they can damage the fabric.

  2. Soak: Soak the saree in cold water and salt for 4-5 minutes before washing to remove any dirt or stains.

  3. Gentle scrubbing: Use a soft brush or your hands to gently scrub the fabric. Do not rub too hard, or it may damage the saree.

  4. Rinse: Rinse the saree thoroughly with cold water until all the soap is removed.

  5. Dry: Do not wring the saree. Instead, hang it on a clothesline in a shaded area to air dry. Avoid direct sunlight as it can fade the color of the fabric.

  6. Iron: Iron the saree while it is still damp to avoid damaging the fabric. Use a low heat setting and place a thin cloth over the saree to prevent direct contact with the iron.

  7. Storage: Store the saree in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, to prevent the fabric from fading or yellowing. Fold it neatly and avoid hanging it for a long time as it can stretch the fabric.

By following these tips, you can take care of your cotton handloom sarees and enjoy wearing them for years to come. Buy our best handloom cotton sarees  online to feel the soft fabric on your skin.

Our Story

"Our step towards bringing the hidden gems of Indian craftsmanship to the world."

The Beginning Of The Magic

Since childhood, Jaya and Tufan have been mesmerized by the 9 yards of sheer elegance. They have witnessed their mothers and grandmothers grace beautiful handwoven saree effortlessly and have created some warm and sweet memories with them. Having lived near the handloom belts of West Bengal - Jaya's childhood also had a hint of the influence of the weaver culture and community. This influence and association only deepened with their travels around the country.

The Travel Tales

After quitting their successful corporate careers - Jaya and Tufan set out on an adventure to explore the country. Their travels gave them a chance to get a microscopic look at the lives of the handloom weavers. They received warm welcomes from the families and could witness everything firsthand - the weaving process, the efforts involved, the involvement of family at every stage, and the challenges faced by them.

When childhood love for sarees met with a strong sense of purpose for the weaving community- the idea of Huts and Looms was born.
